Sunday Service : Microblading
Sunday Service is all about breaking down our service menu to ensure you are as educated as possible when crafting your brow plan. We’re talking about our OG service, what many of you have to come to resonate with Scout from the beginning : Microblading. Essentially, it' is the balayage of brows. Expect lived in, seamless blends and effortlessly natural results. It is a semi permanent make up process of implanting pigment beneath the surface of the skin through tiny, sterile, disposable needles to create natural hair like strokes. As the pigment is only deposited into the first 2 dermal layers of skin, it will naturally fade with time.
Seamless blends and effortlessly natural results start here
Microblading is an inclusive service to most folks, but there certainly are going to be variables that offer the most high performing results. Skin is a key component; those with normal - dry skin, as oily skin tends to heal more diffused and can require refreshers more frequently. For those who are very active, prone to sweating and increased sun exposure will have similar results. Microblading is for all genders and all skin types on the fitzpatrick scale, unless your skin is extremely thin (think type 1 fp scale, accutane effects, anemia, rosacea, retinol use) as it bleeds very easily, contributing to weak results. Your life style has a huge impact on your skin as well. Your foundation of natural brows also will make a difference in believable results. Those with a frame work of hair will have seamless blends, as those with extremely sparse brows may appear more two dimensional. However, it is a great option to enhance your natural brows or for those who suffer from hair loss causes (think alopecia, chemotherapy, overtweezing, aging). An important question to ask is, are there any restrictions:
Accutane within one year + thin skin
Health conditions (Autoimmune Disorder, Diabetes, Chemotherapy, Hepatitis, HIV, Virus or infection)
Hormone Imbalance + Thyroid complications
Keloid scars
Nursing or Pregnant
Prescription blood thinners
Skin Conditions (Psoarsis, Excema, Burn, etc.)
Under 18 years old
The microblading process, step by step :
Scout Signature Mapping (30 minutes) | Each client receives a brow design appointment prior to their initial session, but we ensure there is a meticulous consult to craft the shape that is best suited to your goals, existing brow hair and bone structure. This is a collaborative process. We will discuss pigment that is best suited with your skin type, tone and your natural hair.
Topical Anesthetic (20 Minutes) | We generously apply a 5% lidocaine cream prior to the service. During the service, we reapply with a secondary numbing cream for punctured skin to maximize your comfort.
Tattoo (60 minutes) | Using a hand tool, your artist will cut hair like strokes into the skin with the chosen pigment while working within the guidelines of your brow design. It is a similar sensation to threading or tweezing with the topical anesthetic. Keep in mind that each client metabolizes the cream at different rates, has a unique pain threshold and other circumstances can affect your comfort like your menstrual cycle and stress levels.
Healing Process:
Within 24 hours | Red, swollen, feels like a sunburn
Within the first days | As the open wound oxidizes, the color will deepen + the exaggerated line work will feel big + dark.
Within a week | Flaking or scabbing may begin, feeling quite itchy. As the top layer of skin rejuvenates, the color may start to feel like it is disappearing - the wound is closing, therefore diffusing the color and shrinking the strokes.
Within two weeks | Top layer of skin should be healed, strokes are looking softer.
Within six weeks | Under layers of skin where the pigment has been implanted will have been healed and color will have deepened to its final results.
Aftercare:
Keep them dry for 48 hours Please do not shower, bathe, sweat, or exercise within that time period for the most defined results. Feel free to shower after the 48 hours.
Cleanse the treated area with a clean, damp cotton pad and pat to dry.
Apply our aftercare cream with a clean cotton swab 1-2 times a day. This will act as a barrier to protect the open skin and to soothe any itchiness.
It is perfectly normal for the treated area to flake or scab. These scabs will fall off. Please do not pick at them as it will pull out the pigment that is healing, creating holes in the brows.
Be mindful of sleeping on your face to ensure they do not prematurely rub off for lighter results. We recommend using a silk pillow case.
Protect your brows with big sunglasses, hat or using sunscreen once they are fully healed.
Avoid Intensive exercising, swimming and / or sweating during the first week. (Go ahead with light walks & gentle yoga)
Avoid make up, soaps, cleansers, creams or around the micro bladed area. Wait until the superficial wound is healed before any facial treatments. (Think eyelash or eyebrow tinting or tweezing, electrolysis, waxing etc.)
